Rome the Eternal City
Rome, also known as the eternal city, oozes culture, history and religion. From the Roman Empire to the Pope, it is a mythical, mystical city. Although not many people will admit it, because it is a bit pretentious, everybody is trying to put forward previously unheard of points of view, to unravel the mysteries of this ancient city. Pick your mystery from one of the many that exist about Rome. It is not only the mysteries that have appealed to visitors to Rome. In addition, the great food, the fashion shopping, and the nice weather attract many people to stay in a hotel or rent an apartment in Rome.
It is hard to take a pick of one of the main sights. Surely, everybody wants to see the Vatican City at least once. Vatican City is the smallest state in the world and is home to the Roman Catholic Church. To make the most of your visit of the Vatican a tour is useful; you can keep your eyes on everything there is to admire instead of on your guidebook. Alternatively, prepare well and read up on the background information in one of the quality guides. Make sure you really see the significant cultural and religious areas. See the Sistine Chapel and do not forget to look up to see the ceiling with Michelangelo’s frescoes or check the ones in Rafael’s Rooms, they are beautiful as well. Go to the Tapestries Galleries and take your time to look at the Renaissance art. If you happen to have time and energy left take do not skip the Belvedere Torso at the Pio-Clementino.
Are you tired of seeing all the religious symbols and paintings within the Vatican City’s museums? Perhaps you are ready for an Ancient Roman sight. The well-known Coliseum might be worth a visit. While enjoying being outside, imagine watching the epic fights, the lions, the brave men.
If you want to go for shopping Rome is also the place to be, as fashion has a fast turnaround in Italy. Fashion goes from catwalk to market stall within a week! Just sitting on a terrace and watching the people pass by; you will know the Italians take great care in looking good and dressing well. The funny thing is, many people do not bother with fashion, but almost everybody has style. The style might be casual, but they do not just pick their outfit from whatever that is on the top of the pile.
The best time to visit Rome is from April to June, you will have nice weather but I will not be as hot as in July and August. You can find the most beautiful apartments in Rome for rent To get around you can use the metro. Rome has two metro lines A and B. C is being constructed now and there will be a line D.
Why not go to the Trevi fountain if you still cannot get enough of this city. It will ensure that you come back. The legend goes that visitors who throw a coin in the fountain will come back to Rome. A current interpretation is that two coins will ensure a marriage will occur soon, while three coins leads to a divorce.
